Thank You for Making 2019: Beyond the Vote A Success!

Neither snow nor strong winds nor cold nor icy winter roads will keep Minnesota activists from following through on their plans. Despite difficult weather conditions over the weekend, about 300 Minnesota activists attended the MNxMN 2019: Beyond the Vote conference on February 24.

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to attend this year’s conference. We started the day with an inspiring keynote by activist artist Ricardo Levins Morales. There were over 40 sessions on a variety of issues and opportunities to connect with grassroots advocacy organizations in the exhibit hall. In the new interactive sessions, we relaxed with yoga stretching, practiced door knocking and postcard writing, created a mural of action items and shared ideas with other activists.

At the end of the day, we gathered in the atrium for Assata Shakur’s chant to send us on our way in the spirit of solidarity:

We have duty to fight for our freedom.

We have a duty to win.

We must love and support one another.

We have nothing to lose but our chains.
