As we welcome the new year, we look back at what we’ve done over the past year and where we’d like to go in the new one. It’s a time of renewal, a time to reflect on the things we want in our lives and resolve to take steps toward making them happen.
MNxMN has come a long way over the past year. We organized our first conference –- Beyond Resistance -- in January, focusing on the electoral process and the mid-term elections. We received our 501(c)(3) status over the summer and formed our first board and advisory council.
Now, we’re looking forward to our second conference: Beyond the Vote. As Minnesota's 91st legislature convenes next week, we'll shift our focus to influencing government and participating in community activities beyond the scope of the elections. We’ve resolved to make this year’s conference an even more impactful and inspiring event for Minnesota activists.
The Beyond the Vote conference offers three tracks to help you build or strengthen your activism:
Education – Learn about issues and bills under consideration in the Minnesota legislature, get the facts about the issues and find out how you can get involved to make a difference in your community or for the causes you care about.
Skill Building – Get the tools you need to take action. Whether you’re interested in a single issue or just looking for a way to get involved, this track will help you build your skills to be more effective.
Connections – Network with people who share your values. There will be opportunities to connect with new and experienced activists as well as organizations dedicated to making Minnesota a more just place to live.
Make your new year’s resolution to attend MNxMN 2019: Beyond the Vote on February 24. Registration opens January 14. Watch the MNxMN website and social media for details as they become available.
Happy New Year!
